The Return to RC

After many many years and many more beers, I had decided to step away from the keyboard and mouse and go out doors to interact with real people and return to the world of RC racing.

As with so many things in this day and age my first step on this new road was google.
It was thanks to google that I discovered the 1/10th off-road RC enthusiasts web haven....
www.oople.com

The forums on Oople were a wealth of information for me to update myself and learn what was new and what had changed.
and it was a whole hell of a lot!
gone were the stock and mod classes of my youth, gone were the motor brushes that needed to be replaced and held in with springs and sadly(at least near where I am) gone was the stadium truck class.
One constant that had however remained was the cost of the sport.
And so with the few funds I had available I went to the place where everybody looking for cheap stuff goes. Ebay. and with the help of Ebay, a laptop and a mobile broadband connection. I found myself in Newark for work in my hotel room deeply embroiled in a bidding war for a second hand Schumacher Cougar SV pro.
All that Carbon goodness.

The Cougar I had won on Ebay

My surprise and joy at winning the bid for British made, carbon fibre, racing machine was akin to that of a kid in toys R us thats been told he can have whatever he wants.
A few days later I was awakened on a Saturday morning by the postman knocking at my door.
